Collector’s room

Abraham Willet-Holthuysen called this small, low-ceilinged room his ‘little antiques room’. He would invite his fellow art connoisseurs to closely inspect smaller items from his collection in an informal setting. Such items included medals, figures, glass objects and other valuables.

In contrast to the other rooms in the house, this collector’s room is furnished in a sober Dutch Renaissance style. Dark wood and stained-glass windows set the tone. The intimate character is emphasised by the red velvet wall covering, featuring a pressed sunflower motif which can also be seen in the upholstery on the antique chairs. This room was recently restored.
